As part of my simplifying/streamlining (metaphorically) and de-cluttering, I have removed everything to do with the gear indication system.
Right from the crankcase rotary switch to the handlebar display.
I notice that that the gear selector barrel shaft that operates the rotary switch has a good oil seal around it.
Does it need some sort of cover/blanking plate over it, or can I just leave it sticking out?
I also noticed some nice, fresh oil in the switch when I removed it, prompting me to think that it may be lubricated from the gearbox and therefore need blanking to avoid losing all that gearbox oil from wherever lubricates the switch.
Sorry if this question has already been asked. I did look through previous posts that might have answered my question before posting it.
Thanks.
Can I just remove the gear indicator switch without blanking?

You will need a cover on it the oil seal will not hold all the oil and was not fitted on the early models, a J K cover will work fine...

Is the blanking plate listed here as item 34 from CMSNL?
Thanks.
Thanks.
