Carbs,
having a bit of trouble setting up the cv carbs on my special, I have raised the barrels by 3mm, ported it, fitted expansion pipes, ram air filters and electronic ignition. am I wasting my time and just go for mikuni vm carbs ?

Re: carbs
Where are they jetted now and what have you tried and what were the results of those trials?
Just so you know it's not impossible, the Phat Trakka has ported barrels, UNI filters and Jemco pipes and it runs as sweet as a nut with CV carbs. It only makes about 77Hp at the rear wheel, which may be less than yours. Bob Prior in New Sarf Wales in Orstralia has a spacer plate, radical porting, huge fat pipes on his A model and it makes about 100hp at the rear wheel. So I would think you could jet those carbs to get them working
Mine doesn't feel the same as a stock sedate bike. It's quite frisky and still way less "tuned" than say a stock RD Yamaha. Sure is nice to perk up these old girls.
