Dug a hole in the back yard for the MIL yesterday  Thought I better spend a couple of hour on Tetanus today :)

Pulled both the left and right main covers of the engine, what was behind them didn't seem too bad. On the stator side there is minimal rust, but the cover has a reasonable amount of corrosion.

On the points side every screw has previously been undone with a chisel :( It's a shame as overall they would have been good candidates for re-zincing. Why is it folks can't buy the right tool for the job instead of butchering sh*t up

Also at some stage someone has removed 1 of the 2 screws that secure the drive plate for the points cam. They've drilled the head off and have obviously removed the threaded portion of the screw..........but managed to leave the head of the screw in there, it fell out onto the floor when I removed the cover :?

Also, the stator has a reasonable amount of oil sludge on it, what would be best to clean it with :?:

Pulled the Impeller cover off today and only managed to break one bolt, the rest came out rather easily. I mig welded a nut to the broken one and managed to get it out without damaging the thread 8-) It looks rather nice in there for a bike that was parked up in '91.

I have pretty well undone everything on both sides of the crankcase, next will be to split the cases to inspect and paint.

Couple of questions. I have split many H1 crankcases but never a Waterbottle, is anything likely to jump out at me when the cases are split :?:

Aslo, I will be painting both top and bottom of the crankcase with 2pack, do you guys use a particular colour silver or whatever you can get your hands on. I was thinking either Cortez Silver which is a very white silver, or maybe Argent Silver..........Yes I am a Chev guy :)

My M/C arrived back from Apple Hydraulics today. They did a nice job and cleaned it up nice :) It did end up costing me around $200au including shipping both ways, but it's either that or pay hostage prices for a NOS item or run the gauntlet with a supposedly "good used" unit :(

It's starting to cool down out here, gotta keep the fire going to keep the a*se warm :)

For the time being I've ran out of auto stuff to do, so I'm gonna kickstart looking for harder to find parts for "Tetanus".
If any of you guys have any parts that are "hard to find" that suit a "K" could you shoot me an PM please? Please, no links to other peoples gear on Ebay as I can find that myself.
I'm more than happy to reciprocate should I happen upon gear that works for you.

Help me resurrect this POS :D

I split the crankcase today, it looks very nice inside with no rust or damage to gears. Selector forks look to have done very little work, the 11000 miles it has on the odometer might be factual? There was one screw broken and I did not locate the head?

Welded a nut to the broken screw and it came out relatively easily :)

Hand crafted Key for the starter clutch, will sell cheap. I bought a new one from Suzuki for £1.40, why would you waste your time making something so dodgy?

Striped the engine block down today and yesterday, gonna send all the engine parts in for vapor blasting sometime in the next month. While at it I'll get the same guy sand blast the frame and assorted gear and powdercoat.

Do you guys vapor blast your carbs?

Lots of peeps have had no problems vapour blasting carbs but I’ve always soda blasted mine, the theory being that the soda will dissolve when the carbs are put in the ultrasonic bath where as the glass beads used in vapour blasting won’t. It’s very hard to get every orifice clean in a set of carbs. Baz uses a tumble method which looks stunning. Each to their own as they say, here’s some before and after (after & before  ) pics of my carbs.
