Markings on Float Bowls

Post by kettle_on »

I am curious to know if there's any meaning in the letter stamped on the underside of the BS40 Carb Float Bowls.
There's a pic here:

Given that the main jets are contained within the float bowl and they are typically different.... (110 left and right and 107.5 centre)

Could this marking on the float bowl be an indication of two outsides and centre to ensure the centre bowl goes back in the right place?

I have K J and K marked bowls and the depth of the drilling is different between the two types.
With the main jets fully inserted the drilling is 3mm below the jet on the J and less than 0.5 mm below the jet on the K.
I have no clue why.
