I started the strip down a short while ago, despite looking rough on the surface (understatement) it wasn't in bad condition and some of the chrome cleaned up reasonably well, although if I can raise the funds I will have it all rechromed.

The first thing I attempted was restoring the carbs, being from the US the bike has been fueled with ethanol laced petrol for a long time and it showed when I stripped the carbs down. The end results however where quite pleasing.

I'd lend you my ultrasonic cleaner, but I'll need it before next year.

Next on the agenda was the frame which I farmed out to a local company I've used in the past. They do a proper job and don't charge the earth. When I picked the bits up I was stunned with the quality, it's superb but it means the rest of the bike has got to match up now. As I had all the bits to hand this weekends job has been building the seat up and if I do say so myself it's not bad for only my second attempt. The yellow foam gives the impression of new seat foam. I managed to salvage the original edge protector strip that fits under the cover and I sourced the chrome strip of EBay which is plastic but looks convincing from a few feet away.
