I always found the standard footrest positioning okay and it kept weight off my wrists.
Unfortunately in the later years my dodgy back let me down and in the end the bike had to go ....in favour of sit up and beg position.

Yep, steer around corners with knees ....... used something else to keep it in a straight line
I had two stroke's and survived.
