Runs flat when up to temperature

Post by alanwatson »

Hi all. My GT750A model runs/sounds flat when up to temperature. Starts ok and sounds and revs crisply from cold with choke on. Doesn’t appear to be any air leaks tried the spraying brake cleaner trick. Carb rubbers fairly new. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks Alan.

Just a guess, but my GT250 did the same. Blocked pilot jet was the cause.

I’ll go with pilot jets.

Are you saying that it runs better with the choke on or that even without choke, it runs better when cold?

If it's choke related, the problem is likely that jets are partially blocked.

If it isn't choke related, the probability is that it's running rich when it's warmed up and that could be anything from fuel level too high, to worn out or oversize jets, blocked air filter or exhaust and so on.
