Me and my BIMOTA- like GT750

Here you can post a picture of you and your bike. Also where you are located and if you are prepared to give local kettle owners some of your time and experience. Please don't do discussions here just some facts about yourself. This was Glens idea! Thanks BAZ

Me and my BIMOTA- like GT750

Post by Wolfgangh »

Hi, my name is Wolfgang and I am in Vienna/Austria. I have a collection of ca. 20 classic bikes, most of then being either fully restored by myself or in original very good condition. My collection started with a GT750A that I purchased in 1980 second hand and still own it. I completely restored it in 1998, with many NOS parts like exhaust pipes that were still available at that time. 3 years ago I completed a replica build of a BIMOTA HB1 with a kettle engine, most parts are not genuine BIMOTA but close copies. Recently I acquired a job lot of GT750 parts and rolling chassis, all together ca. 2,5 complete bikes. From that I am now starting a VALLELUNGA GT750 replica based on a GT750K chassis. Again, I plan to make it as close as possible to the original without ever claiming this to be an original. Thanks to this forum I already received valuable detail information for my new project.

Welcome Wolfgang and thanks for showing more pictures of the Bimota replica.
You really should highlight the level of attention you gave to this bike by showing the replica battery arrangement - genius!
Garry.

Hi Garry, how do you know about my battery mod? Well, here is the story. I wanted to keep authentic look, and the battery would be visible under the seat, so I put a LiFePo4 battery into an empty shell of an old lead acid battery, and put a FIAMM logo onto it ( this is an italian brand). Combined with an electronic RR I have no issues with battery charging and operating the electric starter.
Another story is the tach. I used an original GT750 tach and replaced the internals with an electronic MOTOGADGET device, replicating a BIMOTA face.

I followed the build on the Bimota forum.
Clean forgot about the GT750 tachometer conversion - more genius work!
Garry.
