Given I live near Portsmouth and can get a ferry to St Malo, is that cheating?

Kaiser,
Ah, memories. In 1981 I lived in Pompey and took the ferry with the GT380B to St Malo. 5 weeks touring then back via Calais / Dover. Main memories other than it didn't miss a beat for 3000miles (unlike my mate Alan's Honda 250 Wet Dream which died with some only-in-Japan component, so you'll have to wait a week, Herr Alan) was getting incredibly wet in Austria and Germany and a monster length ride home from Munich to Pompey, stopping for a proper rest only when on the ferry. Was blind with exhaustion when I got home. Stamina and stupidity of yoof. If I tried that now (I was 21) I would die while riding along I'm sure!
Not cheating :-))
Cheers,
Mike
