Cheers Mike. 'Can't help but noticing, the oldest bike I've had for the last ooh.....must be 30 years, is a 1989 Honda. Weight didn't figure much when the GT750 was designed back in the '70s did it, I just lifted these clocks off the table and nearly slipped a disc  They certainly turned things around for the RG's, everything RG is as light as is humanly possible.

If I can get just one of these new rings, I can mail it to Thailand and see if I can't get a few hundred made up. A picture would be a start, I can find out if it's impossible from a picture, but will need a real one to know for sure that they can be made.

Thats a lot of abuse on the speedo case but I'm not concerned as the black cases I can repair easily for any dents etc. The main parts issues have always been the stainless bands, the missing trip knob and damaged boot. Another problem is people open the gauge, then damage the band and chew up the little rubber seal that sits under it. Getting bands from another gauge is the only way to fix a badly damaged band. The band on the speedo does not look as bad in this set of photos you put up now, it might be able to be repaired but thats only to be confirmed once I've seen it in person. Stainless steel is very resilent and springy so reworking the bands to some sort of shape and removing the dings and dents is a bit annoying to do given the shape and size.

So I've just picked up this set of clocks from Japan.....the bands look to be in good order, If I send you both sets, do you think that you could please restore them for me to make one good set? If you're interested, I can sell on what's left over...or come to an "arrangement" ...or maybe it would be better for both of us if I buy a restored set and part exchange my old ones? I appreciate that you'd need to get hold of the sets I have to know exactly how "useful" they are to you.

Its probably best if you send both sets of the gauges to me and then I can offer the best solution to you. That set from Japan looks no worse than many I've already brought back to decent condition.
If you may recall for example, this set I was given by a forum member here for restoration.

That sounds good...I thought the ones from Japan had good looking steel bands - they don't appear to be messed with.
Probably best if I have the ones in Japan sent straight to you and I'll send the ones I have from here.
Can you please PM me an address to send them to and a rough idea of cost.

Thanks very much for your help, Drew.
