Gt550 engine number

Post by Raytuckgt »

Hello, I've just required a gt550 which is an import from America but the problem I have is that there is no engine number so it will be difficult to register, all it says on the engine plate is gt550, any ideas guys,

+1 deffo added on top. I think you only have two options. First a little heat and try lift that plate off the engine number will be underneath stamped into the block. (However you may ask yourself why was it covered up and so badly?) Second get yourself some replacement crankcases, they are available.

That has got to be one of the most half-arsed attempts at changing an engine number. What year/frame number is your bike Ray? Kev

Your looking for the range of engine numbers on this list if you want to match the engine number to the year Ray

They do come up on ebay, sometimes quite reasonably priced

Don't forget that US "M" will have different crankcases to the Euro "M" models. Extra inlet ports on the latter mean the ports on the upper crankcase are larger.
