Does anyone know if the oil level of 1500cc comes anywhere near the engine casing joint ?
The reason i ask is i have an annoying little weep that drips near the back end of motor sprocket side, having looked at all obvious seal's on that side i am now at a loss where the hell it' coming from
Cheers Dave

No it doesn't. I bet a pound it is the o ring for the gear position switch that is leaking. You might solve it by tightening the screws down a bit or replace it with one of these

Dave just to confirm that it doesn't look at the diagram here. http://www.3cyl.com/mraxl/gt/manuals/gt ... 550-47.htm
But remember of course that when the gears are spinning oil is being thrown all over the inside of the case. I have seen oil coming from the joint when a ham fisted mate had tried to separate his cases with a large screwdriver!

Leaving the bike on the side stand can increase the risk of a leak on that side of the engine. As can overfilling the oil. Unless it's a dry engine then it takes less than 1500cc to fill to the correct level.

There is a black plastic bung just on the joint which looks suspect near to where the wire clamp is fixed
Good to know level is not near the joint Barney
Could be right Paul as only noticed since i fitted the Piper on and restricts you to side stand onlyHarrymail wrote:Leaving the bike on the side stand can increase the risk of a leak on that side of the engine.

That rubber bung will be the opposite side of the kickstart shaft then.

What about the o-ring behind the sprocket spacer.
