For those who get excited by this sort of thing just look away now, but I've been working through the parts lists and photos that I have, as at one time I was thinking about writing a Field Guide for the GT380 to go with the three other guides I've already produced. I may still do that, but likely not for a while. The GT380 is an interesting model as it was sold in Italy with a big bore kit as standard, and had a few other interesting design features.
The North American drop brackets used on all the models sold here looked like this:
The rear seat rail used here was the 'bent' style, and seems to only have been used on the L model in the US and I'm not sure whether any of the models sold in Canada had them. The image is wrong in the parts manual, but I have confirmed the part number as matching the image shown in the options list of the general export version sold elsewhere (item 23 below and part 94710-33600 and supposedly just for the K). I didn't like how the brackets fitted with the bent rail so decided not to use them.
This is the standard rail (item 17 and part 94710-33000) as fitted for most years (L through B) out side of North America - why they offered the bent one just for the K (and perhaps the J) I have no idea.
I had no luck finding a straight rail - only the bent one which I bought from Webike in Japan (cheap and very good quality) and so I turned up a couple of stand-offs on the lathe and mounted the signals without the brackets, and above the rail.
I can live with it.

And remember that a 380 rack will fit a 550 - just!
I had to fit one to my (hen) brand new 550J back in August 1972 as no-one had made any correct ones for the 550 at the time (top right pic taken on the day I bought it).
Mind you, it was supposedly the first privately registered 550 in the UK at the time!!

American models and likely Canadian ones also, used a lifting handle that looked something like what you show in your photo, part number 41411-33000 for the J, K and then M through B - item #2 in the image below.Peter wrote:When I received my bike it had this short rail fitted. Thanks Alan - I can see that would work (GT380 on GT550). This GT380 wreck came with an almost new GT550 rear rail which you can't fit to the GT380 without some severe modification as the bent end won't clear the top of the shock housing. That's why I went looking for a GT380 one. Now I have this almost new GT550 rear rail in my spares, so obviously I have to buy a GT550 to fit the rail to ...............Alan H wrote:And remember that a 380 rack will fit a 550 - just!
