Re: Suzuki GT 550 in Poland
Welcome Tato. That 550 is making good progress and as others have said the chrome etc looks very nice. I came to Poland 2 years ago (Krakow) and must say what a beautiful place it is, we shall be back again one day! Good luck with the build, keep up the great work

Re: Suzuki GT 550 in Poland
I have a question. Is it possible to put on old type cylinders? My cylinders are nikasil. I'm just asking for a future if something breaks down. Nikasil = costs

It will run but not well. Ports in early and late cases are different, so are ports in barrel bases. This will affect carburation.

Do you know someone who is good repairing Nikasil? Is it worth it? Is it better to look for a working cylinder?Alan H wrote:It will run but not well. Ports in early and late cases are different, so are ports in barrel bases. This will affect carburation.

I don't know personally, but there are several places that do nikasil plating. It's quite common on high performance bikes.

Loads of spares for these. Cheaper too.

Lift the right cylinder and check if the barrel base ports match the crankcase ports. If they do, you need 2 cylinders (for centre and left), but if the right is not matching, then you only need that one.
