End cones

Hi,can anyone tell me how to remove the exhaust end cones on a j model please,many thanks Dave.

If you look underneath the silencers there is a hole and under the hole is a cross head screw, remove this and then get a good grip on the cone and twist it off. This screw also holds the baffle in place. If it is really stuck you will have to try soaking it with freeing oil where the cone fits inside the silencer. You might have to use a heat gun in extreme cases but avoid using a blow torch if at all possible as there is a large sealing “O” ring in there and they are expensive to replace.

I replaced the screws on mine with Socket Head Cap Screws. Much easier to thread the bolt into the hole with an Allen wrench.

8-) ;) Hi +1 with the Allen Head Screws.
far easier to control & screw up tight :idea:
My baffles also cable tied to stop them coming out,they are rather expensive to replace :roll:
