Hope alls good?
My rev counter has been doing funny stuff. some times it doesn't move then sometimes it does with random large peaks while making a noise.
I figure some gearing has gone inside as when i remove the NOS cable ( which turns) the noise stops.

Did I see someone on here who restores the consoles?

Have you tried squeezing a load of grease inside where the cable connects ?
Mine was noisy & erratic , grease cured it

It is possible that the threads on item 7 are worn.

Disconnect the cable from the rev counter and (with the engine running) make sure the cable inner is rotating constantly. If it is, the drive should be OK. Try to hold it with your fingers to see i9f the cable inner stops rotating. Is the inner OK?
Then get a battery drill and put a nail (same size end as the rev counter inner) in the chuck - put the nail in the bottom of the rev counter and run the drill slowly IN THE SAME DIRECTION AS THE REV COUNTER CABLE ROTATES (might be reverse on the drill).
Does the rev counter work, or is it still noisy and erratic when you gently speed up the drill?
You now know where the problem is, the remedy may be more expensive. Speak to Baz and see if he can help.

I had the same issue. Replaced the cable. Didn’t fix it. Replaced the clock. Worked like a charm.

Got the same problem with the rev counter on the RV125 and it's a new clock I think it's been stored poorly and lost its damping fluid
