Interesting - I know the piston to bore measurement for a T500 cylinder is 0.06 - 0.07mm.
Anyone know what it is for the GT750?

Suzuki manual says 0.0018 - 0.0022 inch, 0.045 - 0.055 mm, and so does the Haynes manual, what do you know, they agree on something :D

So a bit of a difference :ugeek:

.045 - .055mm or 1.8 to 2.2 thou. Wear limit is 0.07mm or 1.8 thou.

We are all trying to help this project on its way, and I for one love this type of thing, the collective will point out anything that needs pointing out, offering suggestions and info, superb!! or annoying depending how you look at things :lol:

Another T500 site I've checked quotes the piston to bore measurement as 0.065mm - 0.075mm. The gap (between the 2 bikes) is getting bigger :D
I have e-mailed Wiseco to see what their recommended measurements are for the T500 and GT750.
Await their response (if any)!

Playing it safe? Or is the actual measurement half of the stated value, i.e. 0.04mm?

The piston size has nothing to do with the piston to bore clearance Gary, the piston bore clearance is set by whomever re-bores and hones the cylinders to suit the pistons supplied, it is vital to get right, I would be going with the 500 clearance, if you don't hear from Wiseco that is, or I am sure it will heat seize as soon as it starts to get hot, what do others think :geek:

Tony / Teazer - you are correct - thanks!
Had a chat with an engineering company who specialise in re bores and they confirmed what you have said - it needs boring to the T500 clearance.
Although their first question, after I mentioned that I was air-cooling a water-cooled motor was................ WHY?

I remember Baz telling me that tolerances are less on a liquid cooled engine as
the temperature control is more consistent.
