Re: XR11/73
Exactly. Or take 1.5mm off the flange - or both. GS1100 also drops straight in with similar mods. Did you end up using any GT parts in that conversion?garry55 wrote:
'77 GS750 gear set from the USA - a bit of shaft and cog swapping and thats the gearbox ratios sorted, plus the GS input shaft is 6mm longer than the GT's which helps claw back most of the extra 8mm I need for the dry-clutch conversion.
Only snag is the spacing of the bearings is out by 1.5mm - may have to machine the bearing face to get it to fit snugly....
Pipes look really interesting.nicely fitted too.

Re: XR11/73
new build Mike Capon shock .............
out with the old.............
and in with the new...........
that's the suspension bearings taken care of - awaiting replacement wheel bearings now.
then the VJ23 headlamp / clock set mounting bracket and fairing stay bracket arrived from Japan so, after much pissing about getting it all to fit the GSX-R frame, I did a test fit with the LS nose cone..........
liking the look of the fairing, so I replaced the LS nose cone with the blue / black / white one and added the r/h side fairing............
think I will go with that - may have to replace the TR750 seat unit though.

with VJ23A race seat unit............
it's a tight squeeze with the GT750 motor installed, but a bit of trimming of the fairing panels should solve any clearance issues.

Re: XR11/73
with rear wheel, hugger and fairing tail panels in place..........
I had to cut the fairing tail panel in half to get it to fit the fairing sides - this is the gap it leaves..........
it's a wide old engine is the GT750
VJ23 coolant header tank fits snugly though......
front end next...........

with so little space available at the front of the bike to fit a reasonably-sized radiator, here's the alternative.................

Re: XR11/73
welcome to the Heath Robinson Cooling Company..............
oh the joy of fitting an under seat radiator - this bit goes here.........
and peeps out here.........
90 degree elbow fits to the Kettle thermostat housing - fortunately for me, Suzuki cast the mounting bolts so it would fit in any 1 of 3 orientations, although in normal use the outlet faces forward. But then this build is anything but normal...........
and both pieces are connected with a short, straight length of pipe.........
and that's the return to the radiator sorted. The feed pipe is a whole new bunch of headaches..........
