Cylinder re-sleeving

Hi chaps. I need to get my GS750 block re-sleeved. Does anyone have recent experience of a decent firm who can do this? Cheers! Kev

Kev,Wouldn't a second hand barrel be a cheaper option.

Hi John. Yes, you would think so but I've found it really hard to source barrels that haven't been worn beyond the usual +1mm solution. Plus the fins seem to be often knocked about. I've got a really nice block that is in perfect external condish but is worn to 66.5mm and beyond on all bores. I thought about boring out to 69mm to take the GS850 pistons but you cannot get new/replacement pistons so you have to rely on second hand units. I have looked at the Wiseco route but you are talking £400 quid to fit out the block on a 69mm set up :o I thought that resleeving might be a bit cheaper and I would have an OEM set up where I can use the existing pistons which are in perfect nick.Kev

Kev,i think you'll pay £100 per cyl for a re-sleeve.

Hi John, yes I had my eye on it but the broken fins put me off. I do have a block which can be re-bored but there is some fin damage to it. Kev

Kev,
Tricky. Have you considered having a shop weld up and grind back some alloy fin, perhaps from a scrapper cylinder, to your otherwise internally good block? that way you retain stock size / oversize and the appearance should also be good.
Agree that a fin-intact and reborable inside stock oversize block is best, if one can be found!
