Kettle Clinic

Started my bike up a couple of days ago to warm it up with no problems. Went to do the same again today and absolutely no electrics when i turn the key. Nothing. Checked the fuse on left hand side and that’s ok. Battery is fully charged. Earth is fine. Where else should I be looking?

Flat battery?

Battery is fully charged. Fuse is ok. I’ve checked that all the loom wires are well connected. Absolutely no power.

Duff ignition switch ? Have you got power getting to it ?

Just taken ignition switch down and there is no power getting to red wire.

Sussed it, the clamps around the main fuse were too loose. That was a waste of a day

what clamps do mean M1Kee

The clips that hold the fuse in the white plastic fuse holder.

Chuck the entire fuse carrier away and fit one of these - ebay 270891803115 - or similar, then you'll not have other issues. Spare blade fuses are dead cheap and easily available.
The main problems with 40+ year old bikes are bad wiring joints and connections. These can cause poor sparks, dull lighting and poor charging.
I suggest that a nice steady winter job for you is to split EVERY joint (one at a time) and clean both connectors, then put it back together and go on to the next one.
If you want to check some, while you've got the left side panel off, pull the 3 large connectors (one at a time!) near the rectifier/regulator and have a look at the pins & sockets.
