greatbikesoftheseventies.com - Site down, GT550 specs comparison missing

Post by BajuPL »

Hi!
My name is Bart, pleasure to visit this forum. I am during 1974 GT550 restoration.

Maybe some of you noticed, that "greatbikesoftheseventies.com" site is not working anymore, a lot of useful information could be found there.
Is anyone aware of the reason?

There was a table/chart, presenting detailed technical comparison of all GT550 models, like weight, power, top speed etc.
Definitely not able to find it anywhere else.
http://www.greatbikesoftheseventies.com ... ns-01.html

Does any of you saved that chart? Maybe a full site rip?

Best regards!

I hope the owner will run this site again :))
oldjapanesebikes.com is one of the most useful one, thanks.
It is just quite hard do find accurate comparison - the one I meant was great. Other sites generally do not clearly specify, that those parameters vary among years.
Some of them, like https://www.suzukicycles.org/GT-series/GT550.shtml , is simply wrong.

Why, what's wrong about it?

The power/torque & corresponding RPM's, the weight, these parameters varied among models J...B. Above model history does not include that fact.

The table I mentioned was showing those differences, btw it was way more detailed than any other comparison found in the web, including carb variants, gear ratios, performance etc... just handy.

In all fairness, although there were carb, gear ratio and engine porting differences (in the SCEM engines) the overall difernces were minimal. I'll stick to my modified A and standard(ish) J 550s next year no matter what they weigh!!
