Not a Suzuki

Post by PaulD738 »

A friend of mine has decided to “invest” in a proper three cylinder two stroke a 1972 Kawasaki H1 as you can see from the photos it looked half decent so he bought it unseen off a guy in Devon who had imported it from the states. He’s given me the job to tidy it up and get it running. First job was to see if it would run but so far we’ve got no sparks. Despite not finding anything obvious I can’t get a spark and as it’s 1970’s electronic ignition it’s even confused our Alan. Put that to one side and stripped the front end off as the brakes don’t work and the fork stanchions need rechroming/replacing. After stripping we’ve come to the conclusion that this won’t be a cheap project.

Very nice Paul. What sort of electronic ignition is it.? If it's Newtronic (or Pyranah as it used to be called) I do know how to test it.

:tw I know these Bikes are sort after,
but really can not see what the fuss is over ?
Noisy, smoky, rattle things, & from memory lots of cheaply made parts.
Suzuki never intended to go down the same road with their triples.
(no pun intended) as Kawasaki's 500 or H2 750

Chalk & Caviar ‼️

I know which Bike I prefer, But even today Suzuki's build Quality is very good, compared to other Japanese bikes.
Cheers.

Mine is 25 years old. Only problem was caused by me damaging the lamp cable. Still good 30,000 miles later

Well some progress at last, we’ve finally got a spark on all three cylinders. The problem turned out to be a series of bad earths. Miraculously all the lights and horn now work
Next thing to tackle is cleaning the carbs which will have to be done the old fashioned way as my ultrasonic cleaner has gone tits up and the new one won’t be delivered for a week
