Folks,
Utter trivia, but if like me you've ever been driven half up the wall trying to get those two blessed washers then a 12mm nut on the lower end of the RH clocks mounting bolt, you might enjoy the time/sanity saver I dreamed up today.
Get a 12mm ring spanner, put some masking tape underneath. Drop the 12mm nut in, like a sticky cup; put a couple of tiny strips of masking along the handle and make sure the washers are slightly adhering to it. Pop the bolt in, offer up the contrivance, bingo, first go, on went the washers and nut!
Its a pain otherwise as unless you have tiny fingers you cannot stop the lot repeatedly falling down the back of the headlamp.
Cheers,
Mike

Mr C
Believe it or not I was reading a December 1977 Motorcycle Mechanics the other day and the technical team advised this on a Suzuki B120, as the B120 does not have fork oil drain screws, and rather than remove each fork individually they advised this and I quote "the service should be timed to coincide with both oil and petrol being run to a sufficient low level in order to minimise spillage! If there are any other members of the forum that have old Classic and Motorcycle mechanics in their library we could do with posting some of the quotes for a laugh some of the quotes do really remind me of the massive difference between restoring a motorcycle now and running one on a shoestring then.......cmon chaps I know some of you have some.

I have a motorcycle mechanics road test of the Suzuki GT750 in 1975 strongly advising not to drop the bike because a complete exhaust system was £140!!!

This is a good value thread! I like that we can take the p***
I will post an even dafter one shortly. I simply cannot wait for the jokes about flux capacitors :-)

That's all we need is a lecture on soldering! by the way Mike did you associate that bracket with the one on your 380 (the bottom yoke clamp) did it look the same?

GT, yes, I think that bracket thingy was the clamp that holds the cable onto the left lower triple tree bolt.

Whilst we're at it. Easy way to fit the washer and nut on is to put a small magnet on top of the bolt in situ.
Simples eh ?
