Gear indicator light replacement

Seems to be a standard problem with the l e d gear indicator light ,just stopped mine for a cheap £5 eBay one ,kept the original plug and connected it to the new wiring ,twisted original to new then used shrink wrap tubing ,cut them at various lengths rather than having one big clump of cut and joined wires .Bit fiddley mounting the new unit but cut the original bracket down and positioned in place with electrical tape before using epoxy resin ,bench tested and all ok but haven’t got the engine back in yet so fingers crossed ,the numbers look slightly high on the photo but are perfectly central when sat on the bike ,I also taped the orange wire off and didn’t use it as i don’t think the original had a 0 .
Hope this is of help to members having the same problem

Sorry the photos are back to front and upside down but I’m not a computer buff

Depending on which one you get, the wire colours might be different to standard. These are the colours of the one I just fitted to the Earwig.

Luckily most come with a colour/gear guide so just a matter of splicing them together I’m not the worlds best at wiring but for £5 i won’t complain ,think I cut the wrong piece off the original fixing bracket but saved the day with a blob of epoxy resin 👍
