Re: crank alinement timing issue
First of all fit the correct points. Then gap and time left, centre and right points. Details posted elsewhere....
If you don't set the points gap first (14 thou at highest cam point, which is just AFTER tdc), you'll never get the points to open at the correct time - when the line on the propeller lines up with the static mark.
THEN LEAVE THE MAIN BACK PLATE ALONE.
Time the centre on the centre points, there's 2 adjustments - one for the gap, t'other for rotation.
Then do the right one similarly to the centre method.

Re: crank alinement timing issue
Hi Alan Just measured the lift on all points right and center are 7mm the left are 8mm. WRONG POINTS SOLD ME.
this is why i'am having trouble with timing the left cyclinder....
Will order the right points for DENSO must have been sold Kokusan..
Do you know if this is the case 1mm differance?
Regards Ray

Re: crank alinement timing issue
Great news, glad it's sorted.
It shows that we must make sure that we fit like for like - not just 'near enough' - carbs and other parts too.
Original are always best.
Even the Denso/Kokusan points cams are different which alters the dwell of the points so the condensers don't charge correctly and affect the spark generation process.
