Re: Suzuki gt550 crash bars
they would make a killing on fleabay, no they wouldn't unless they're sold for next to nowt.
I've been in this business for nearly 20 years so I should know.
its not always the case rarity doesn't mean big money.
there's a different between wanting and actually willing to pay for their effort.
for a start when someone ask me to make something that's so called rare,1st I ask for a 50% none refundable deposit.
then it all goes quiet. so no deposit no can do its that's simple.
when I 1st started making racks/rails for some(at an agreed price) only to find their excuses tax bill came in or unexpected bills.
stuck with these racks etc till sold eventually.
here's an example I made 3 crash bars(1 for myself) for the T500.
told them I want around the £160 mark. ok go a head I'll have one off you.
had about 4 wanting so I said I'll make 2 for start and we'll take it from there.
got them made and chromed and guess what no takers.
its a bit much for me was the answer even though they knew the cost 1st hand.
anyway sold them on ebay for more than I wanted eventually.
so the moral of the story .just be careful if you decide to go a head and make them.

Re: Suzuki gt550 crash bars
Ok thankyou for you’re very helpful advice , and yes I’m sure your quite correct, it’s just annoying when you want to buy something, you like and had on early gt550s that I can’t get anymore , and yes the exact same one in the picture are the ones I want , I understand your point of course. I wouldn’t even try to make something like that, I’m not a welder for a start , but thanks for enlightening me , and to add if I wanted something badly enough, I would obviously pay up front which isint a problem, appreciate your valuable comments. Merry Xmas
