After months of tinkering TODAY was the maiden ride out for my GT380 M
we didn't go far just around the village and then up the A49
Initial impressions were OK! but where is the power? after three or four miles and nicely warmed up things improved although she didn't want to pull 6th unless I was flat on the tank like a manic teenager on a fizzie
Still, every thing was in one piece so I head for home. I know there is a gaggle of bike behind me and I am probably slowing them up but I didn't expect to be overtaken by one just as I was turning right ....... with indicators and a waving right arm .
early season out of practice syndrome ?
That was the good news
now the bad
I stopped to chat with a mate for a few moments and she would not start again without full choke, and when I got back out onto the A49 and gave her the berries she only managed about half a mile before draining the carb bowls and stopping ,
I had to put her on prime to get her going again.
I think the in line fuel filter is not allowing enough petrol as she seems to run ok at lower revs and had bimbled around fine earlier
I will try her again later in the week
THINGS CAN ONLY GET BETTER

Re: sunny sunday 1st ride out
Check the fuel filter is the right way round. Don't ask why I suggest that.....
Proof that four strokes are over complicated

Re: sunny sunday 1st ride out
Fog generally floats to about 40 feet but it depends on the terrain

Re: sunny sunday 1st ride out
Church Stretton valley tends to have its own weather ,The Long Mynd on one side Caradoc on the other traps all the fog .
On the up side it also works the other way round
I did think about float height , If removing the In line filter makes no difference that's my next stop

Diaphragm is sticking or slow to open in the petcock

thanks for that Barney,
the petcock is a bit of a mare! and I also think the vacuum take off may be lacking in suck
I am going to renew the pipes again to make sure they all seal properly

Are you a Shropshire man? Know the Long Mynd well; started many green lane days from up there.arthur wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 6:50 pm Church Stretton valley tends to have its own weather ,The Long Mynd on one side Caradoc on the other traps all the fog .

I've never anything good comes of fitting an in-line fuel filter.
