Re: New to kettles
Has anybody else noticed that there's a heck of a lot of "Steve's" on here and I bet the majority of us are from the 1950's. I was christened with the traditional English "ph" spelling of the name, but as we're all called Steven (more easily shortened to "Steve") which is the American version, I often wonder if that is why it was such a popular christian name back then.
Could we be named after Steve Mcqueen? a bit too early I think, or Stevie Wonder? definitely too early for sure, or could it be because of the vast amount of US servicemen that were stationed in the UK after WW11? I bet a lot of them were called Steve and our mums just liked the name, or let's not go there okay

Look, my paintwork hasn't got "Fish scales" they're "Dragon scales" right!!! However, after some thought, I will accept "Black Marlin" or "Swordfish", but definitely not "Haddock" or "Cod".

Yes Alan, I've been unfaithful to Gary, he hasn't caught me yet
Bit dead over there, apart from dolly's build thread not much going on
As where my "Steve came from I'll take the McQeen reference
Born in 69 so too late for an American serviceman indiscretion
