Been together for 40 years...

Here you can post a picture of you and your bike. Also where you are located and if you are prepared to give local kettle owners some of your time and experience. Please don't do discussions here just some facts about yourself. This was Glens idea! Thanks BAZ

Been together for 40 years...

Post by niceonept »

.... no, not me and the missus. Me and my lovely GT750!

Purchased in 1981 for just £450, it had been dropped by its rather elderly owner and had a nasty dent in the tank and broken lock-stop. The original Melba mag wheels looked good but were a death trap - the front one fractured on every spoke next to the hub shortly after I bought the bike. Luckily I had the original spoked wheels.

The dented tank was replaced and the bike changed to black but I changed it back again to its original Maui Blue Metallic in the early 90s after a 3,000 mile tour of Europe including Germany and Austria, Switzerland and Italy.
The bike then rested at the back of the garage for a few years after the arrival of my children but after a very long engine rebuild was back on the road again in 2016.

Nice one PT (see what I did there  )
40 years is a long time to own a bike and you beat me, I've only owned my kettle since 1987, but I've met a couple of guys who've owned their kettles from new and Baz on here bought his new, sold it and then saw it on ebay a few years ago and bought it back again. So what's the mileage on yours? I've got 160,000 on mine and it runs like a dream :D
Look, my paintwork hasn't got "Fish scales" :x they're "Dragon scales" right!!! However, after some thought, I will accept "Black Marlin" or "Swordfish", but definitely not "Haddock" or "Cod".

You're so funny Richard, my sides hurt from laughing so much...........NOT

But "bream" is quite clever for you and much better than the usual cod or haddock :P

With a bit of work, it could be a motor pike and side carp...
