New rebuild from Oz

Here you can post a picture of you and your bike. Also where you are located and if you are prepared to give local kettle owners some of your time and experience. Please don't do discussions here just some facts about yourself. This was Glens idea! Thanks BAZ

New rebuild from Oz

Post by MikeWood »

Hi all. Just starting a new rebuild. Last did this 24 years ago. OMG, haven’t prices gone through the roof! Sold my last two bikes-a mostly restored M model, and a partially restored K model for AUD $2000 in 2007. Just bought a parts bin special-M model engine, L model frame, with K model radiator. Most of the bolts are wrong, seat is rubbish, radiator completely blocked. On the plus side, it has a fresh engine, and new wiring harness. Now down to bare frame, two wheels, and motor. The journey begins.
Just trying to get info. Does anyone know if GT Reiner still supplies parts?
Cheers, Mike.

Hi Mike

Welcome to the forum. Nice challenge you got there ;)

Reiner is still going strong and there are a few guys on here who do specialised bits and pieces.

Good luck with the project!

I’m not going to a nut and bolt concourse resto, just a good, pleasing to the eye one. It’ll look the goods. That’s the plan anyway.
Cheers, Mike.

Hi Mike
Looks like a barrel of fun there :D
Where are you located I am in the Hunter Valley NSW, just finished an L model, well sort of still doing bits like repairing radiator due to the little tube to catch bottle breaking off, bought a replica one off ebay to get me going, but the radiator grill doesn't fit!
Still a few places to get parts from, but can be expensive as you will find out, some are very slow posting others are quick, I try and order on Sunday and sometimes have the bits here Friday /Monday the following week, Japan is quick only up the hill a bit from Oz.

All the best with build.
