Hi guys. A common problem surely. It's my gear lever on the gt380, which is a loose fit on the splines now due to wear. i've tried wrapping the shaft with aluminium tape etc , but it still works loose. I'm still able to change gear, but I don't want the lever departing the bike whilst i'm out riding!. No doubt many others have come across this too.... just wondered if anyone can suggest a more permanant fix?
Have a good time in Wales boys... cheers Andy

Re: loose gear lever on shaft!
Is it the lever or the shaft that's worn?
If it's the lever, put it in a vice and almost close the slot (bolt removed), then run a hacksaw down the slot. Fit a new bolt and try that - the slot can then tighten a bit more and hopefully will grip the shaft better. You can do this more than once - not too tight as the saw blade will nip.
If it's the shaft that's worn and the above trick doesn't work, you may need a new shaft.

Re: loose gear lever on shaft!
I used a slither of coke can wrapped around the shaft which worked well, might be worth a try?

Re: loose gear lever on shaft!
Thanks chaps.. I'll try the hacksaw trick and the coke can one as well. I once lost a gear lever on my z650 due to this when on a ride up near York. managed to turn round and find it again though on that occasion!. Just don't want a repetition! thanks to Alan and Gary.
