Re: Newtronic igniton
I'm just installing an Accent system on mine!
started it last night and should finish it tonight.
excellent easy to install piece of kit!
no more points to adjust/buy and likewise condensors/
if it's anything like my r77 reg/rectifier that I fitted years ago, it should be fit and forget!

My Newtronic has been fine on my 550A. And no cables need cutting as it plugs into the loom.
Currently without a GT, but looking

Re: Newtronic igniton
I have owned Accent, DYNA, Ignitech and Newtronics systems over the years. The Newtronics system hit the market as Piranha way way back and wasn't a bad system. In comparison, the Accent is state of the art. It's simple to fit. Newtronics had the ability to set timing slightly differently on different cylinders which sounds like an advantage, but unless the crank is out of phase, that's not really an advantage. Newtronics is not a bad system, but I wouldn't fit another one. They have probably changed the design since I used one, but the connectors were always a bit sus' and the price was a bit high compared to other options.
So for me, the best systems are:
Race - Ignitech (fully programmable) from ignitech.cz
Street - Accent (fit and forget and great price and service) email Uwe at <uwe.gottwald@accent-electronic.com>
Race - Dyna (wicked spark, but draws a large current) - custom build
There are other self generating race systems around, but not really suitable for the street.
YMMV.

Well ;justfinished fitting it and it's great; well made and so so easy to set the timing. Having followed the instructions, I have strobed it to check and it was spot on.wardy wrote:I'm just installing an Accent system on mine!

the engine started instantly , but the weather is crap tonight to do a test ride... maybe at the weekend.
took me around three hours to fit over two nights ( i had to take the battery box out to route the wires , with the ineviable cleaning of bits as well. highly recommended; cheers
