Devils Bridge.

Post by stevewharton »

Up in the Cumbria area for the week and visiting the local sights, Morecambe, the Lake district, Ambleside, Hardknott Pass and Kirkby Lonsdale today, where I saw one of the bikers favourite places, Devils Bridge.
A bit damp today so only one bike there, but here's a question for you all (not you Alan, give someone else a chance  )
Why is it called Devils Bridge?
Look, my paintwork hasn't got "Fish scales" :x they're "Dragon scales" right!!! However, after some thought, I will accept "Black Marlin" or "Swordfish", but definitely not "Haddock" or "Cod".

In common with many bridges of the same name, legend holds that the Devil appeared to an old woman, promising to build a bridge in exchange for the first soul to cross over it. When the bridge was finished, the woman threw bread over the bridge and her dog chased after it, thereby outwitting the Devil.
They're rubbish them Jap bikes lad they won't last five minutes! you want to get yourself a nice Royal Enfield!

Which was shut yesterday when we were there :(
But I did expect to see you there, guarding the bridge that you'd built. ;)

Hi
Is that the bridge you cross and there is a big White hotel, if so we stayed there in 2012, we were on our way to the Museum where they had some of the Campbell boats and a lot of bikes and I was pleased to find a Crooks TR250 on display :D
We had been to Isle of Man prior.
