Carb bellow woes

Post by Assmosis »

Just curious if anyone has fitted "budget" carb bellows from a certain internet auction site, bought a set around 10 months ago, fitted and seemed fine for a while. Some time later, a few perish marks and now... completely rotten, split and only fit for the bin. Guess it's time to bite the bullet and acquire genuine items! On another note, the old girl has been testing me with persistent ignition/running problems namely left cylinder fine all the time and one or other centre or right cylinder running but never all three. Tested all the obvious but any suggestions would be welcome.

I’d start by replacing the bellows, thoroughly cleaning & checking carb set up / synchro whilst you have them off.

Test ride after you’ve fixed your known issues then see if there is an improvement.

As a dyed in the wool skinflint I baulked at the price of the bellows .
in a see if you can find something else to work vibe I bought three big old cattle syringes from my local agricultural supplies, the rubber plungers/seals are the right size to fit over the lip on the top of the carbs, poke a hole through then 3 RC Control stick bellows glued on the top total cost about a fiver
So far So good four years on!
OH and the syringes are also good for reverse bleeding the brakes :D
