New member says hello

Here you can post a picture of you and your bike. Also where you are located and if you are prepared to give local kettle owners some of your time and experience. Please don't do discussions here just some facts about yourself. This was Glens idea! Thanks BAZ

New member says hello

Post by Nodohc »

Hi all
I'm based in Ireland
Had bikes since 1980 ( ap50 )
Recently bought a 76 gt250a in need of rebuild / restoration, bit of a minefield but I'm getting there 🙂
All was fine till I was browsing and up popped a gt550 , garaged for 20+ years and bits missing , tried to ignore it but I'm sure you know what happened
Mrs says I need help so I thought I'd sign up .
Turns out she means another type of help 😃
Anyway , 550 is put away till the 250 is done and I extend the garage , I also have 2 triumphs and an old z750
Look forward to hearing from you

Welcome to the forum mate.
Five bikes? That's not too many. ;)
Good luck with the resto's and keep us posted.
Cheers Steve W.
Look, my paintwork hasn't got "Fish scales" :x they're "Dragon scales" right!!! However, after some thought, I will accept "Black Marlin" or "Swordfish", but definitely not "Haddock" or "Cod".

Welcome to the madhouse. I currently have 3 x GT550s running - J, A & B, plus an M in resto, so plenty of advice available!!

I will definitely take some advice
I really love what you've done with the earwig , would love to do something similar
Is it possible to keep the center stand with spannies , either 3-1 or 3-3
I'm fairly good at welding and mechanical stuff , electrical is my weak spot but the gt250 I'm rebuilding needs a full rewire and I'm going to give it a shot
What's the worst that can happen 😳

Sometimes it's possible to keep the centre stand with spannies or 3-1 exhausts, but it needs lots of cutting & welding. The exhaust on Earwig causes sidestand only, and so does the Piper that was on 'slow starting' GT550K, and will be on Emma the Dunstall when I get my act together.
