Re: Project X
Still got my colour tune, it must be 40yrs old now and works fine. An essential tool for setting up the carbs on the Z1300
They're rubbish them Jap bikes lad they won't last five minutes! you want to get yourself a nice Royal Enfield!
A quote from my old dad
I started out with nothing and I’ve got most of it left!

Re: Project X
Well that was a fun afternoon.
Can't beat a bit of old school tech !!!!
Long story short, but I was adding about twice the fuel I need. I know the test isn't a loaded test but it is a good indication.
Having got the mix (nice blue colour) right at about 2500, the idle was way to high because the burn had got better.
I couldn't get a it lower and found out it was because the oil pump arm I had grafted on the the butterfly arm in the TPS housing was just fouling a little bit and keeping the butterfiles about 1mm open and on a 46mm TB that's a fair bit of air!
So I need a quick tweak to the assembly then go again. I can basically reduce the whole fuel map by about 50% as a start point buy reducing the base fuel calculation.
Then try the different throttle settings again to get good burn at all the points then blend the map. I will make it a little rich to compensate for the off load testing.
The fly by wire throttle controller will also have to have its range reset as I only need about 30% butterfly opening to get 8500 revs on the big bodies. If I find the limited movement messes with the response curve too much I have a plan B and am looking at some tiger 800 bodies as an alternative.
All good fun!!

Re: Project X
I've noticed in earlier posts that some of the images have become unlinked and all that shows is the file name now??
Anyone know a fix for this?
The last few weeks have been fixing a few minor reliability niggles around the throttle body controller and finishing off the mechanics for the ECU and main computer. I've done quite a few rides now and some manual dialing in on the fuel table but I have hit the limit on manual tuning, so need the dyno again.
So time to bite the bullet again.....

Re: Project X
I am going to try a new dyno this time....
http://www.doubletakemotorcycles.co.uk/
They are a bit more local to me.
Its hard to find anyone that does 2 strokes anymore ........
Anyone have any good experiences with other shops?

Re: Project X
There's one in Swinton near me in South Yorkshire - https://swintonmotorcycles.co.uk/ -, but never used them tbh, and of course there's Muttsnuts in Wetherby who specialises in two strokes - https://www.muttsnuts2strokes.co.uk/ - but a long way from darn sarf......
Might be worth a call?
