Re: Clock gauges repair
I bet they will be a pain to fit as the lip is a large recess for it to go into.
I used flat glass with a white silicone cord (ebay 222705004024) to sit it on and 'fill' the recess, with a smear of clear silicone to seal it when I did the ones on the Earwig.
You might have to warm the base to allow the acrylic to fit. Be interesting to see how you get on with it

Re: Clock gauges repair
Started by removing bezels they were very yellow. The clocks are held in by a green epoxy. Everyone said it was easy but i found it the hardest part it took me about an hour with a craft knife and 1/4 chisel. Eventually they came out.i removed the opaque old lenses years ago. Then using a barrel sander in a Dremmil, i gently enlarged the hole grinding the top to accept the new lens. Patience is key you only want to remove enough so the lens can be sqeezed in.
Then a spray with white enamel inside and out. Finally the lenses put in and sealed with a bead of clear mastic
Just need to clean off the lenses after mastic has dried tomorrow

Re: Clock gauges repair
Here is a hot tip for those undertaking this task.
When you reseal the clocks back into the bezel make sure you line up the securing bolts with the holding bracket or you will have to get your chisel out again

Very nice and a 21st century timepiece too.

Look, my paintwork hasn't got "Fish scales"
they're "Dragon scales" right!!! However, after some thought, I will accept "Black Marlin" or "Swordfish", but definitely not "Haddock" or "Cod".
