New project

Post by PaulD738 »

Just picked up this decidedly rough Suzuki GS750L. I’ve got a spare motor to go with it so I can make one good one out of the two and still keep the original engine numbers. It’s a 1979 bike that was a grey import (remember those?) that was never registered. First job is to get a V5 then strip and rebuild the motor. Yet another long term project to keep me out of mischief :D

Are you going to rebuild it as an L or are you going to build it as a proper GS750 ?

Z13 is done bar a few cosmetic tweaks to suit my ocd lol.
Just general tidying up and a final carb balance which I can’t do until I can get out for a proper run. Thanks to Mizzy and his super duper carb cleaning tool the bike now runs really well. I managed to get a standard seat to replace the awful Eddie Lawson thing it came with. Looking forward to getting up to the ponderosa on it.

It will be rebuilt as the infinitely more valuable and rare L model
For some reason I’ve always liked the Japanese custom models with the fat 16” rear wheel? It will be another long term restoration similar to what I did with my T500, no mad rush as I’ve got plenty of time and two bikes to ride in the meantime.
I’m a bit strange I know

The plan is to get it looking summat like this. How do you fancy doing another paint job?

Picked the new lump up today, it came out of a 750 Katana so has a bit more oomph than the std GSX jobbie. Onwards and upwards 8-)
