Due to a lazy starter I’ve just renewed the starter clutch weights and springs.
Job done, press the start button and it spins like it never has before, BUT, it didn’t start and the 3 wires from the starter button (in the headlamp shell) started smoking and melting.
Coincidence or have I inadvertently messed something up ?
Starter button wires smoking ?

Alright Mr Picky, the rollers, they felt heavy to me so they’re weights.
I’ve sorted the oil leak from behind the gear indicator, cleaned the exhausts, changed the ROLLERS and curly wires (springs to you Al) but nothing electrical.
I did notice when I put the kill switch to “on” the neutral light went from very bright to dull.
F* knows what I’ve done, it’ll be “something for the weekend sir.”

I’m putting my head on the block in the hope it’ll help someone out in the future.
When checking the alternator brushes, Make sure you put the isolator washer on the brushes holder screw in the right order, that’ll avoid the wires burning out, and you’ll also get a spark at the plugs as a added bonus.
Winner winner.
I’ll sit back now and wait for the abuse from Alan H.

He sure is a bit of a know it all Didge, but I bet he doesn't know how to apply a professional tattoo,
or does he???
Look, my paintwork hasn't got "Fish scales" they're "Dragon scales" right!!! However, after some thought, I will accept "Black Marlin" or "Swordfish", but definitely not "Haddock" or "Cod".

I hope not Steve, there’s enough grief within the industry without Al getting involved.
