Cylinder head sleeve bolts

Do they need the spring washers?
Can't thread lock be used instead?

Inside every standard Kettle is a bloody good engine crying for help............... :D

Ah'm guessing, so there's a minute flexibility, thus the torque setting and they won't ground !

If you sue thread lock there is a possibility that the stud will come out with teh sleeve nut when you try to remove the head and that would be a problem. And Scotch makes a good point, that you need to be sure that the sleeve nuts can tighten properly and don't bottom out before they are correctly torqued.
