Hello! I think this is the forum for me and my new to me 1972 Suzuki T500.
Long time motorcycle rider (BMW R90/6, R100, Honda CB750, 450, 350) but this is my first 2 stroke bike.
It's currently stripped down waiting for a frame repair. Someone decided to bob it and then someone changed their mind but repaired it poorly.
I heard it run when I bought it a few weeks ago.

This bike was missing a few bits when I got it, but luckily I was able to source some needed parts: chain guard, centre stand, a working speedometer (not cheap), and astoundingly, a single side emblem. What makes the side emblem find astounding is that it was made for one year only (1972), and it is for the one side that I needed.

Besides the missing bits, this bike had a small issue. I was able to hear the bike running when I bought it but there was gas leaking from one of the carbs. This was due to a leaky float which has since been ordered and replaced.
This bike does have a more significant problem but one that can be remedied. Sometime in its life someone decided to "bob" it into a cafe racer style. Then someone decided to reverse this amputation but did a very poor job of welding. Luckily I have a friend who can fix this. I'm hoping next weekend, then I can reassemble everything.

Oh, I am aware that the gas tank is from an earlier year model, not 1972.

Frame has been repaired! Now I can reassemble the bike into a whole again.
