Field Guide to the Suzuki GT750
I've posted a 'second' edition of the Field Guide (click here to take a look). This is also unofficially referred to as the anorak's bed time reader as it is short on plot and character development, but long on trivia.
Corrections, additions and comments always appreciated - its a free resource, so basically you get what you give ! My email is oldjapanesebikes (at) shaw (dot) ca.

Hi Ian
thanks, great imformation.
I own a 1974 L , you say that the headbolts were changed from frame nr:45213 onwards, mine has the "old" bolts and has frame nr 45228, I do not know the engine nr as at some the chain must have broke and damaged just where the engine nr should be. Is there any way I can find out what my engine number is ?
Thanks
Malcolm

Re: Field Guide to the Suzuki GT750
Just to clarify - the mention of the change at frame 45213 is specific to the new style sealing washers (09168-14008) used under the head bolts. This is detailed in service bulletin GT-5 - I have most of the service bulletins posted for viewing at this link: http://www.oldjapanesebikes.com//mraxl_ ... etins.html . The change in the head bolts happened over the course of the model year rather than any specific engine number during the year.grisgolf wrote: .........you say that the headbolts were changed from frame nr:45213 onwards, mine has the "old" bolts and has frame nr 45228,....
If the engine number is completely missing, then I suspect all you will be able to do is broadly identify the number range based on whether it is pre or post some of the design changes listed in the service bulletins or the parts manuals. Hope that helps !

Re: Field Guide to the Suzuki GT750
I'm looking for additional photos of original switch gear for a section I'm trying to update in the Field Guide - what I need specifically are photos of the left switch gear on original UK market GT750's (photos of the right hand switch gear are also appreciated) together with the model year of the bike they are installed on. If you have photos you wish to contribute, just email them to me at oldjapanesebikes@shaw.ca .
As a reminder - the Field Guide is a free GT750 resource and as with other photo contributions I have gratefully received, you would be credited in the photo caption.
Thanks in advance !

Re: Field Guide to the Suzuki GT750
Not too many replies, so lets try this again - if you have an original GT750 in the UK, Australia or NZ having a 'pass' button on the left switchgear, I'd like to use your photo in the Field Guide. Mick has sent me a good photo of the 1972J model with the orange pass button - if there was another style with a different pass button used on the J then I'd welcome that. As well, I am also looking for good photos of 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1976 model non-North American GT750 original switchgear - both left and right side please.
Just email them to me at oldjapanesebikes@shaw.ca .
Thanks in advance for your help with this !

Re: Field Guide to the Suzuki GT750
I've just uploaded the revised 3rd edition of the Field Guide - I think I now know how Sisyphus must have felt while rolling that boulder repeatedly up the hill !
At any rate, enjoy.
